Hello Angie! I found it interesting that 2% of houses in the neighborhood had high risks of lead in the houses! Most of the zip codes that I viewed only have 1%. I wonder if the government is doing something to reduce that number.
ReplyDeleteHi Navleen! That is interesting! The area that I live in has quite a lot of older homes, so I wonder if this is a potential reason for the higher percentage. You bring up a great question about if the government is doing something to reduce this number.
DeleteI live in the 95608 zip code, and the amount of lead that is still found in the older homes in this area is also at 2%. I also found some of the same contaminants in my area polluted by the Superfund Site, Aerojet. The Superfund Sites were mainly located in the areas that were low-income and predominantly people of color as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Elesia! It sounds like our areas are dealing with similar issues. My area also has a lot of older homes as well. I'm fortunate that my home was built in 1984 so as far as lead in paint goes this shouldn't be an issue.
